A visit with Henry at Cedar Point

Some of our best memories of cruising the Inland Waterway include Henry Krzemien and his sailing cat, Mickey. There was the time he was almost swamped by a Tow Boat on the Mississippi! I was lucky to get a few good shots of Sea Marie plowing through the troughs! We spent a long stay in Mobile Alabama together where we attended several Mardi Gras parades and pot luck Wednesday dinners. When Henry left Turner Marine in February we gave him a going away party that rivaled any Bon Voyage send off I've ever been to! (There was a big bottle of Long Island Ice Tea involved, compliments of Scott and Rhonda Joiner on s/v Mucho Gusto.)

We were very excited to see Henry at his home port. He crossed his wake and completed the Great Loop less than two weeks earlier than our arrival. We wanted to celebrate his accomplishment, and give him a big hug! Henry is docked at Cedar Point Marina which is located on the grounds of Cedar Point Amusement Park near Sandusky Ohio. His son and daughter both have power boats at the same marina. This makes for a whole lot of family fun!

We were invited to go out on Lake Erie with Henry's daughter and son-in-law. They have a 3l foot Sea Ray. Jen and Don have three children, Mason, Luke and Finley, the cutest bunch of grandkids ever! We enjoyed every moment we spent with Henry's beautiful family!

Our Great Loop adventure has given us a new community of friends. We all face similar challenges, sometimes together in groups and sometimes on our own. Henry completed the Loop solo which is quite an accomplishment. In addition to never getting a break at the helm, I'm sure it had to get lonely at times. We are so lucky to have met Henry. He started as a fellow Looper but has become a lifelong friend!
