Our Alberg 35,
Mystic, in in St. Augustine. We are aboard preparing for returning to cruising. It's just our lucky timing that the St. Augustine Chowderfest was happening during our visit. We picked Scott and Rhonda Joiner up at their boat,
Mucho Gusto, and drove over early hoping to score a parking spot on the street. Again, luck was on our side. We parked only a few blocks from the Conch House where the festival was held. Tastes of chowder were $1 each, beer was either $5 for a Miller pour, or $6 for a Stella. We chose to go inside of the Conch House Restaurant and buy "good beer", as well as a glass of wine for Rhonda!
We tried half a dozen of the chowders offered. They came in tiny cups filled to the brim. It didn't seem like much but we felt satisfied were full after finishing off our samples. Rhonda preferred the lighter versions, Dave and I liked the spicier ones. Scott was right down the middle enjoying some of both. We spent the afternoon at the festival, meeting people, listening to live music, and meandering around with a gazillion other chowder lovers. Many local restaurants were represented and several gave us coupons for a free appetizer at their site. We had a great time!
