Carrabelle Florida

Sometimes backtracking is frustrating but when we backtrack for safety reasons, we never think twice or second guess our decision. Moving from Dog Island to Carrabelle was the right decision. Considering the change in weather that was predicted, we would not have been safe at our anchorage in a north wind.

It is only about 10 miles from Dog Island to C-Quarters Marina in Carrabelle, Florida, a cute little town that boasts the smallest police station in the country. Of course, we had to go find it! We took a walk through town and found the IGA grocery first. As we walked by, a huge German Shephard was barking urgently. She was tied to a rail outside the store. She sure looked like Garry’s Chrissy from Mobile. We knew Garry was on a similar schedule as us so we walked over. I called to her and she stopped barking and looked our way. We went inside the IGA and there was Garry, checking out at the register. He told us he was staying at the Moorings just north of us. We got a better rate at C-Quarters than he did but his dockage included breakfast. Garry mentioned that he could see himself staying at Moorings long term. We loved our time at C-Quarters. It was very inexpensive at .75 cents per foot. The folks were friendly and helpful. The town is small but pretty. There are several local pubs that appear to be lively but we were too tired to check them out. Instead, we take a shower and settle in to get some rest! Tomorrow, weather permitting, we'll head for Steinhatchee.

I see they painted a few of the rocking chairs on the porch. Looks good and nice photos. Unfortunately, we spent way too much time there when doing the loop and that little town for smaller and smaller. Did you happen to see any of the white squirrel population?
