Florabama

Scott and Rhonda Joiner took us on a weekend adventure to Florabama, a famous Orange Beach hangout on the border of Florida and Alabama. It's right on the beach and has an outrageous party atmosphere during the high season. The Joiners first visit was in the summer so their experience was very different from ours and included a woman wearing tassels, and only tassels, as her top. Since it's February, it was pretty quiet; in fact there were some folks playing bingo in one of the many bars. Apparently there is a bar where women throw their bras up and they hang from the rafters. We never found it but, even if we had, I don't have a bra that I'd like to sacrifice to the Florabama Gods.

The patio bar was a great place to stop and sit while enjoying the view of the Gulf Coast. We spotted a pair of dolphins in the bay. It was fun to experience Florabama but I'm not sure that I  would like it any better in the high season. Now we can say we've been there though.

Going for some local color and history, eh? Plus the beer, of course. ;-) Hugs!
