We learned about the Mossy Cave trail from another hiker we met in Kodachrome State Park. She described it as short, easy and unlike the other trails in Bryce Canyon. The highlights include a rushing creek, a flowing waterfall, hoodoos and an archway, as well as the mossy cave it is named after.
There are two parking lots, one for cars the other for RVs and overflow. The trail head was busy with hikers coming and going. We entered and quickly came upon the beautiful rock formations and the gorgeous green creek created by water that has been diverted from the Sevier River. The canyon was originally called Water Canyon. The creek that runs along the trail is the ditch dug by pioneers to bring water to Tropic and Cannonville. The waterfall was also a result of the irrigation work. Mossy Cave trail was definitely worth the stop. It was one of our favorite hikes!
