We visited Zapata Falls and the Great Sand Dunes on our way west to hike in the Grand Canyon. We'd been to both of these natural wonders many years ago with our kids and had a great time. The Zapata Falls were flowing. The Sand Dunes were crowded with tourists and the parking lot was full so we parked near the campground and walked across the dunes where the creek at the base was singing the song of spring run off.

This was a quick visit but we're on a mission to make our way to the Grand Canyon to hike Rim to Rim. Our next stop is Kodachrome State Park.
