The Gulf Coast Microbrew Tour

Our last week in Tarpon Springs was filled with a check list of things to get done. We worked on repairing the damage Mystic sustained while we were away and got a little more teak work done. We also had a little fun! Anclote River Park has a wonderful beach. We'd worked all morning in the 90 degree heat then rode our bikes there to cool off in the river water that was surprisingly clear and clean.

We still had our rental car so we drove down to Palm Harbor to check out the microbreweries there. We stopped at deBine Brewery first. It was dark inside and set up for family fun with a shuffle board and a big screen for video games. We both tried the fabulous Hazelnut Coffee Porter. Next we went to Stilt Brewery which had a very different atmosphere with a bright interior that was open to the outside. The movie Titanic was playing on the big screen. The bartender talked me into another Porter and Dave tried an IPA named The Question. We had a fun night out!

There are no strangers...

Our friends Kay and Michelle live in St. Pete and our friends Rhonda and Scott are docked in St. Pete so we set up a mini microbrew tour with them. Kay's dad John joined us! Originally we'd hoped to visit three microbreweries; Pinellas Ale House, Cage Brewing Co. and 3 Daughters Brewery. It turned out that Pinellas was closed (it was Memorial Day) so we went to Cage then 3 Daughters. Again, these microbreweries are so different. Cage was all metal and cement but had a covered outdoor area with children's toys. We each tried one beer at Cage than walked the three blocks to 3 Daughters. This place was amazing. It had everything you could wish for, pool tables, foosball tables, bean bag toss, ping pong, shuffleboard, you name it, they had it! It also had a huge stage for free concerts. We had a wonderful night out with friends.
